Community members and institutions choose whether and how to participate.
Newark Muslim Heritage Coalition initiative
Our community.
Our contributions.
Newark’s future.
The Newark Muslim Census Project is a voluntary, community-led effort to document Newark’s Muslim people, institutions and priorities. The goal is stronger community planning, representation, partnerships and investment.

Trusted Newark partners are shaping outreach, stewardship and participation.
Better information can support planning, resources, partnerships and advocacy.
Why this matters
Newark’s Muslim community contributes every day. Its full story should be visible.
Muslim residents, families and institutions contribute to Newark through faith, education, business, service, culture, civic life and neighborhood leadership. Yet no shared community process currently captures the breadth of that presence.
The Census Project is designed to build a clearer, community-grounded picture of who we are, the institutions we have built, the contributions we make and the priorities that should guide collective action.
This is an introductory phase. The virtual sessions will explain the project, gather early questions and invite residents and organizations into the work.
